Upper Arlington Labor Day Arts Festival

Last Post of the Summer

Upper Arlington Labor Day Arts Festival

Sad to see the summer go....but also excited about new prospects for the fall...
The Upper Arlington Labor Day Arts Festival is always signals the end of the summer for me. It was a great day, but as usual very hot and very BUSY. But I saw lots of great kids come by and create pop-up castles at me booth.

This was a really neat idea they had the kids paint theses trucks. Before and After.....

Wonderful, but tiring, day at the Upper Arlington Labor Day Arts Festival!

I'm looking forward to what the fall will bring. I've been accepted into the Artist in the Schools program:

Hopefully it will bring me some business as a teaching artist!

Teaching Artist Seminar at the Kennedy Center

The Teaching Artist Seminar at the Kennedy Center

I was so fortunate to get accepted to the Teaching Artist Seminar at the Kennedy Center this summer. I learned so much for my new "job" as a teaching artist starting this fall. During the three day seminar we learned how to write residency and lesson plans.

 I made it to DC!
So exciting on the first day to walk down the street past THE Watergate Hotel to the Kennedy Center! What a feeling when you first see it!

Just walking in the door was overwelming!

So exciting to be a part of the seminar!

The view from the balcony just outside our classroom door.
That evening I went down to get directions to walk to the Mall area in DC and decided to take one the bikes they had, free of charge, instead....best decision ever!

My husband Doug won't believe that I'm biking, so I had someone take a picture of me.

Ran out of time to see too much this evening, but decided when I got back to the hotel to reserve the bike for the next evening too!

Back to the Kennedy Center the next day....
We had a tour of the Kennedy Center after class the second evening.

 At the Presidential Suite

 At the Russian Lounge

Enjoyed the tour, but couldn't wait to get out on the bike that evening!
I picked up a sanwich on my way back from the Kennedy Center that evening and took it with me and had supper at the foot of the Lincoln Memorial!

Rode to see lots of things after supper!

Had people take pictures of me at every stop.

Made it all the way to the Smithsonian before I had to turn back.

Here I am at the WWII Memorial. This is where my Mom and Dad met during WWII.

Getting dark so I had to head back...too bad...
Stopped to take a picture of the Kennedy Center. See the balcony? This is where our class has been held every day!
Returning to the hotel at dark...
Here I am with my instructors, Sean and Lynne
Can't believe it's all over...sad to be leaving leave...
 One last goodbye..
Walked past the Watergate one last time...

 All over...it went so fast...
So proud to have been a part of this seminar. I learned so much in just three days! Not many people can say that they have been a guest artist at the Kennedy Center!
